FAQ's

From schedules to sign-ups, here are the most common questions parents ask us about online lessons. Still curious? Head to our FAQ page for the full scoop.

How are campers grouped by age and skill level?
Our Holiday Chess Camps are open to children ages 3-10. Whether your child is brand new to chess or already loves to play, they'll fit right in! We group campers by both age and chess experience so everyone learns at a pace that's right for them and has fun along the way.

What does a camp day look like?
Each day includes a mix of chess instruction, story-based adventures, games, and puzzles! Kids won’t just be sitting at a chessboard. They’ll be learning through imagination, teamwork, and hands-on activities– with plenty of time for snacks, movement breaks, and making new friends!

What should my child pack for chess camp?
For a full day of camp, just bring a packed lunch, two nut-free snacks, a water bottle, and a spare set of clothes (just in case!). Our half day camp runs from 9-12! You'll only one nut free snack and a change of clothes (just in case!). We'll provide all the chess equipment your child needs to learn and have fun!

How can my child continue learning after the camp ends?
The learning doesn’t have to stop when camp is over! Your child can keep improving their chess skills through our year-round classes, club camps, and tournaments—continuing to learn, play, and have fun!

"Story Time Chess is amazing! Their teachers are so good with kids, warm, funny and entertaining. An engaging and fun way for my daughter to learn chess at such a young age, which will make a difference as she continues to develop and begins school on the near future."

"Chess class is THE highlight of my 3.5 year old's week. I'll admit, I was skeptical on whether 3 year olds can learn chess, but now I'm a believer. Our tutor got my daughter out of her shell and engrossed in chess within 10 minutes."
